WORKSHOPS As we discussed and voted on at the 2010 general meeting we are going to try a new format for 2012. We will not have a large annual conference in one place this year, as everyone must travel a great distance with a lot of expense to attend it. What we propose are smaller more focused hands on workshops in makers shops or suitable places to accommodate smaller groups. - Workshops may be hosted by any Guild member you just have to decide what topics you want covered, contact any of our board members to get started. The Guild will help you advertise, get your instructors lined up and handle the liability insurance.
- Workshops attendance cost will be cost recovery only.
- Everyone is welcome to attend these workshops it is not exclusive to guild members only.
- We feel with this new format it will give makers more of an opportunity to get hands on experience rather than just classroom lectures. If you have questions please ask away!

Mark...this sounds great and something the Guild needs to do. We are limited on what we can do at the conferences. This will make it easier to get a more hands on idea of certain tasks. I'd like a workshop on Corel Draw...Ottos presentation at the conference was good but I need to bring my computer so I can "do" what it is that I'm trying to do. I might even suggest that some of the workshops be videoed if possible. Jerry

I heartily second Jerry's suggestion - video the workshops and make the videos available either on the website or to be purchased. Many of us could sure use the information presented but are unable to attend in person. This would be a great help.

Yes, video's are something we are working on. Jerry I have been thinking of a Coral Draw workshop for awhile now and I think it will happen soon, everyone I mention it too is interested.
